Did you know that your mobile phone can even replace traditional keys to your home or office? Instead of handy metal keys, you can open the door simply with your own phone. This is not only a great convenience on a daily basis, but also safety, because such a mobile key cannot be forged.

A dozen or so years ago, we never left home without our wallet. Today, we mainly remember to have our phone with us. If the phone has already replaced our calendar, camera and credit card, it can also replace the keys to our home or office. Thanks to the SCLAK mobile key system, this is possible.

How does a mobile key system work?

In short, it is a system that replaces traditional, physical keys or access cards (which are also easy to lose or misplace). Using a special SCLAK application installed on an Android or iOS phone, we connect to SCLAK servers that store authentication data. The system decodes the information received and sends it back via Bluetooth 4.0 to the SCLAK device mounted at the door so that the lock can be opened. This is therefore not a simple pulse sent from the phone to the door, but a fully secure system, encrypted with the same algorithm as bank accounts, that allows remote door management.

The universal system

The system can be fitted with any electric, electromechanical or electromagnetic lock without expensive modifications. Simply connect the SCLAK to an existing circuit. The device itself is tiny. It measures 57x57x27 mm and does not require any additional power source. Instead of physical keys, all you need to use the SCLAK is a mobile phone with Internet access.

That's not all – SCLAK also allows you to easily give and receive access. For example, instead of giving physical keys to a neighbour in case we leave, we can give him access to the flat when something actually happens and intervention is needed.

Mobile keys and security

Traditional keys are a rather unreliable solution. It is enough for someone to forge our keys to be able to enter our home easily and unnoticed. Despite appearances, it is quite easy to counterfeit keys – we do not attach as much importance to them as, for example, to our telephone. We leave them on our desk at work, in a handbag in a cafe – and a thief needs only the imprint of the key to make a fake. A physical key can be forged without our knowledge and used many weeks later. We also make the key available to others – e.g. the cleaning lady and thus they have access to our flat 24 hours a day.

Higher-level security

SCLAK offers a completely different level of security. Firstly, the key cannot simply be forged – PKI technology together with SHA-2 encryption designed by the NSA ensures full data security. Secondly, we can give access to the flat to other people on our terms – e.g. only during specific hours or days. Thanks to this, the cleaning person can enter our flat only when we wish (and thanks to the recording system we always know who and when entered the flat). Thirdly – if we lose the traditional keys, the only safe solution is to replace the locks (which is a considerable cost and time). And until they are changed, the flat is not protected). With SCLAK, even if someone steals our phone, we can deactivate the electronic key very quickly and then only recode the application.

Is SCLAK a revolution in access control?

Definitely, it is a system available not only for large corporations or business environments, but also ordinary houses or flats. Its functionalities also make it an interesting solution for any hotel, guest house or even a flat rented in the Airbnb system.
