In companies where large amounts of cash or secret files are transported, it may be necessary to purchase a car safe. Thanks to its installation, a car is adapted to special purposes and effectively protects property against theft. We advise you on what to look for when choosing a safe or a safe deposit box for your car.
Safe transport of cash
Wherever cash is handled, there is a high risk of theft. Companies have many safeguards in place, but often their Achilles heel turns out to be the transportation of money. If an employee transporting cash from a retail location to the company's headquarters stops at a petrol station or convenience store on the way, burglary and theft can occur, resulting in significant property damage. The same situation applies to the transport of confidential documents. Ideally, both cash and secret files should be stored in special car safes or safe deposit boxes.

Which car safe to choose?
On the market there are models of various sizes, equipment and burglary resistance class. When choosing a car safe, you need to pay attention to its functionality, so that it can best fulfil its purpose. What is important is both its size, which can accommodate e.g. cash cases, briefcases or panniers, and its interior, which can be divided into e.g. convenient compartments. Depending on your needs, the safe may also be equipped with a slot. The special construction of car safes enables their permanent fixing to the floor. The use of the container is facilitated by its location in the boot, where the spare wheel is usually located. The doors of car safes are broken and open upwards. A high-grade key lock should also be a solid security feature.
VAT on a car safe
It is worth knowing that until recently the purchase of a vehicle safe entitled business owners to deduct full VAT on the purchase or lease of a special vehicle. Currently, however, the cost of the purchase of a bank van can only be deducted by companies whose business concerns the professional transport of cash. Otherwise, the relief is calculated according to the general rules[1].
A car safe for a hunter
However, a car safe does not have to be used exclusively for transporting cash or documents. Special gun safes are also suitable for installation in vehicles. These containers are characterised by their large size, which can even accommodate shotguns, robust construction and butterfly locks. Thanks to such security, a hunter or weapon owner can be sure that only he has access to the safe and even in the case of a car break-in, the weapon will not be stolen. It will also be impossible for unauthorised people to use the weapon accidentally, as only the owner has the key to the safe. There are different sizes and models of car safes for weapons, so it is worth thinking about the planned content before buying it, as well as matching the container to the vehicle model.
