When designing the equipment of a hotel, both the comfort and safety of guests must be taken into account at every step. What solutions for room door locks can you come across and what elements should you pay attention to in order to increase the comfort of using a hotel?
Nowadays it is practically a standard. It is difficult to imagine a hotel aspiring to the name of modern without equipping it with a single key system. Its task is to enable guests to use the same card to open not only their room door, but also the entrance to the garage, gym or other common rooms. The single key system allows guests to move freely around the facility without the need for staff. At the same time, it allows limiting access to places that are not included in the package purchased by the customer. For example, a person who does not have a car parked in the underground car park of the hotel cannot enter the premises. Such a solution improves the safety of the hotel and significantly increases the comfort of its use from the perspective of guests.
One-key systems are most often based on (proximity) cards, and access programming takes place by means of software included in the lock system.
Although hotel guests usually spend time together, there are times when, despite staying in the same room, they get separated for some time. Then each of them needs a key to open the door independently. A hotel room locking system should therefore offer the possibility of easy and fast programming of an additional card given to the guests on their request.

This function allows access to information on the last operations performed with the lock. In simple terms, thanks to the built-in timer with a date stamp, the lock stores several hundred of the last events in its memory (model HDL MF 65). Thanks to this, the operator is able to audit the lock at any time by collecting data from the lock. This is both useful for billing the cleaning staff and helps to secure the property. In the event of any claims against the hotel and its staff, a record of events makes it possible to check who opened the door, when and with which key.
The sheer durability and security of the lock is also important. It should not only be reliable, but also resistant to mechanical and physical damage, to burglary, and equipped with an alarm that activates at an unauthorized attempt to open.
The market for locks for hotel doors is quite wide. However, a lock that does not meet the above criteria is not even worth considering when designing equipment for such an establishment.
