The HoReCa industry, i.e. the hotel, restaurant and catering sectors, is the customer group with perhaps the widest demand for safes and security devices of all kinds. Hotel safes are present in most hotels, and drop safes are present at the reception or in the catering area (which applies to the catering industry in general). Every hotel or restaurant, on the other hand, is also an office that requires proper security for important documents. Finally, and this applies especially to the catering industry, the safe storage of hazardous and flammable substances is increasingly part of the needs of this type of institution. Let's take a closer look at this.

What are hotel safes used for?

Let's start with what is most associated with hotel security, namely hotel safes. These are devices in which hotel guests can store small but valuable items while they are away from their room.

Hotel safes are accepted to be designed according to sizes corresponding to laptops, the most common sizes being 15- and 17-inch, although other smaller sizes are also common. The dimensions of hotel safes are suitable for storing documents such as passports or boarding passes, wallets, jewellery, cameras, etc..

Hotel room safes are not burglar-proof safes, their burglary resistance is not tested, but that is not their purpose either. They protect valuables from the opportunity that makes a thief, i.e. the occasional theft of valuables left in plain sight.

Hotel safes are locked with an electronic lock, the access code is a one-time use, defined on site by the guest.

Drop safes – operation and use

Drop safes are a specific type of safe which combines protection against the theft of valuable items with access control to the contents. Drop safes work in a similar way to a mailbox. Anyone can put a deposit inside, but only an authorised person with a key or access code can take the contents out.

What is this useful for? Deposit safes make sense wherever there is cash circulation and, at the same time, employee turnover. The highest security standards require that at least managerial level employees have access to cash or important documents. Drop safes make just this possible.

You can read more about cash drop safes and deposit safes in the text ‘Efficient and convenient cash security in circulation with cash drop safes and deposit safes’.

What can be secured in a cabinet safe?

Hotels or restaurants are places where there is a typical office circulation of documents such as invoices, personnel files, stock documents, balance sheets and statements, reports and a mass of others. In accordance with current legislation on the storage and protection of personal data, every institution must duly protect sensitive data in the event of theft, but also prevent it from being destroyed.

For such purposes, cabinet safes are the ideal solution, which can be used not only to store company documents, but also more precious items or valuables that hotel guests may wish to deposit in a safe of stronger construction. It will also be a good idea to consider fireproof models.

Cabinet safes, being slightly larger products, provide convenience of use and security for both guests and staff.

Will cabinets for hazardous materials be useful in a hotel or restaurant?

The last group of products discussed today are cabinets that allow to store hazardous materials. In the HoReCa sector, these are undoubtedly cleaning products, fuel for burners to heat dishes, fuel and batteries for small appliances such as stand-alone lawnmowers etc..

In our range you will find hazardous material cabinets in various sizes, including two-door cabinets that meet the requirements of fire resistance classes: 30-minute and 90-minute.
