Every company, whether it is a stationary business or an online business, should have an office safe. It is essential for maintaining order and securing sensitive documents. If you work from home, a safe will protect your company data not only from unauthorised people, but also from children who could destroy important invoices and documents while playing.

What is the difference between an office safe and a home safe?

An office safe differs from a home safe only in its intended use. You can have the same safe both at home and in the office. The difference is that at home, a safe is usually used to hide valuables such as jewellery, cash or valuable keepsakes.

In the office, the armoured cupboard is used to store, among other things:

● electronic devices,
● vehicle keys
● hard disks and other data carriers,
● customer and employee data (including personal data),
● classified documents
● laptops with sensitive data,
● product recipes.

When you leave work, don't take restricted documents with you. Leave all sensitive data effectively protected. By using an office safe, you can be sure that the data of both customers and employees is safe. The armoured cabinet protects against breaches of GDPR regulations.

You can use the office safe like a safe deposit box. If your company prohibits the use of audio and video recording devices, employees can deposit smartphones in the safe. When it comes to depositing employees' valuables, a far better solution is to equip the workplace with a set of safe deposit boxes. Then everyone has their own separate locker.

In addition to a safe for the office, you can equip your company with specialised armoured cabinets

If you need a specialised locker in addition to a regular safe for the office, choose products dedicated to your industry. Do you want to put your room and car keys in order? Nothing simpler, choose comfortable safes with special hangers. They keep all your keys organised and clearly visible. Along with the keys, you can keep your vehicle registration documents and third party and AC insurance.

Does your industry deal with hazardous materials? Purchase a special safe to store items that are:

● flammable,
● explosive,
● poisonous,
● corrosive,
● narcotic and psychotropic drugs

By storing hazardous materials in a specially constructed cupboard, you will avoid accidents at work. All staff will be safe and unauthorised people will not have access to dangerous substances.

Fire protection for the office safe
Which lock for an office safe?

It is worth thinking about fire protection for your office safe. Paper documents and data carriers can be burnt in a fire. The compensation paid by the insurance company will be of no use if you lose valuable data. Documents stored in a fire-proof office safe will be secure.

According to the EN 15659 standard, there are two classes of resistance to small fires:

● 30-minute (LFS 30 P),
● 60-minute (LFS 60 P)

If you need better fire protection, buy a safe certified in accordance with EN 1047-1, which defines reliable fire resistance. According to this standard, an office safe can have two fire resistance classes:

● 60-minute protection (S 60),
● 120-minute protection (S 120).

When buying an office safe, think about the type of lock. If you need to open it frequently, choose an electronic lock with a numeric keypad or a biometric fingerprint lock. Remember, however, that biometric security is not a good solution for everyone.

Your fingerprint must be clear when opening the safe. If your hands sweat or your hands are often dirty or dusty at work, you will have problems opening the lock. With a numeric keypad this problem does not occur.

You can also choose a traditional mechanical lock with a dial. It is characterised by a high level of security and failure-free operation. Unfortunately, opening the safe requires precise setting of the cipher when turning the dial. This results in long opening times. This is not a nuisance if you use the safe infrequently. Unfortunately, more frequent opening can be annoying. A mechanical lock is not recommended for the elderly and those with hand trembling problems.

A simple key lock can also be fitted to an office safe. If you like modern solutions, choose a safe that can be opened with a smartphone.

An office safe is ideal for any industry. It's important to analyse what you actually need an armoured cache for before you buy. Maybe you only need a small cupboard safe to hold your most important documents. If you're in an industry where you need specialised solutions, order a personalised safe tailored to your company's needs. Also bear in mind the size, as the number of classified documents will increase over time and you will need a larger armoured cabinet.
