Owning a weapon entails the obligation and necessity (according to the letter of the law) to store and secure it properly – to prevent it from falling into the wrong hands and to protect it from potential theft. The most popular products in which weapons and ammunition are stored are S1 class gun safes and cabinets for long and short weapons. There is a reason for this – they are primarily budget products, while at the same time meeting the requirements enshrined in the regulation on the storage, carrying and record-keeping of weapons and ammunition. A unique product and one that is becoming increasingly popular among owners of hunting and sporting weapons and among collectors is the armoured glass cabinet. It allows you not only to store your weapons and ammunition safely, but also to display them beautifully, for example in a study, living room or other special room. Because safes don't have to be grey and common at all!
Gun storage showcases – what does the law say about them?
When customers bought Hartmann Tresore armoured glass cabinets a dozen years ago or so, they already had the appropriate class certified – from S2 upwards (even though such a requirement was not in force in Poland). And how pleased these customers were when they found out that their cabinets were still adequate after the new regulations for securing weapons came into force. This is precisely the Ordinance of the Minister of the Interior of 26. August 2014 on the storage, carrying and registration of weapons and ammunition, which ordered (and is still in force) that weapons and ammunition should be stored in "devices meeting the requirements of at least class S1 according to the PN-EN 14450 standard".
Prudence is one of those qualities that is particularly important if we are buying a product that is to serve us for many, many years, preferably a lifetime. The lowest purchase price is not always an indicator of success and satisfaction (with the 'saved' money). In the case of gun safes and gun cabinets, it is crucial that the cabinet is secure and burglary-proof for as long as possible.

Gun vitrines versus gun cabinets – what makes them different?
Both cabinets and vitrines keep weapons secure. What distinguishes vitrines from other gun security products include:
Armoured glass
The use of armoured glass, constructed from layers of glass and special polymers, makes it possible to display the weapon collection while providing the necessary security.
Weapons safes with armoured glass from HARTMANN TRESORE are characterised in particular by the large surface area of the armoured glass panels in the doors. We also have models with glass panels in the side walls in addition.
Design, finish
In addition to the security aspects, the armoured glass gun cabinets can also be adapted to the interior of a living room or study thanks to the following features
• the possibility of ordering the cabinet powder-coated in any RAL colour,
• the option of high-gloss (or matt) painting in any RAL colour,
• the possibility of making the display case in wood optics – this is a specially pressurised sublimation in the following colours: cherry, walnut, root wood, maple, oak,
• alternatively, the cabinet can be made with solid wood cladding in the colour of your choice.
LED interior lighting
Another interesting point is the use of LED strip in the display case, which illuminates the interior of the safe and thus the weapons are not only safely stored, but also impressively displayed.
Style
The Hartmann Tresore range includes both showcases made in the classic and 'baroque' style.
Personalisation
You can choose the colour of the cloth with which the interior of the display case will be lined and the colour of the gun holders. As far as guns are concerned, they can be stored in a dedicated area at the bottom or in an internal safe, mounted under the gun racks in the non-glazed section (this is also ideal for storing ammunition).
Lock
Suited to display cabinets, the locks have a high level of security and you can choose from these types:
• key lock,
• electronic lock (regular or with a revision function, i.e. a possibility of emergency opening with a key),
• biometric lock with fingerprint reader.
Armoured glass cabinets – what to deposit in them besides weapons?
Armoured glass cabinets are not only for customers with weapons. They are becoming increasingly popular amongst collectors of diverse valuable items who want a good level of protection for their collections, but also want to see and display them. They are versatile and therefore have a modern application. They find their place not only in collectors' homes, but also in commercial spaces, museums and private art collections.
Summary
Armoured glass cases, although initially designed for the storage of weapons, have become a versatile solution for collectors, art and antiques enthusiasts, as well as cultural institutions. Not only do they perfectly protect and secure the deposit from unauthorised access and theft, but they also present the contents in a unique way. Each glass-enclosed armoured cabinet is both a place where valuable items are stored, but they are also an important element of space design, creating harmony between functionality and aesthetics. Ultimately, armoured glass cabinets are more than just storage furniture – they are an innovative solution that combines security, design and modern technology.
