Safes used to be associated with hiding places for cash and valuables in luxury villas. Today, they have become more common, and the large selection of available models has meant that everyone can find one to suit their individual needs. In addition to protecting money and valuables, a safe can also contain documents, data carriers and souvenirs to avoid the risk of damage or theft.

Why is it worth having a home safe?

Despite appearances, every home is full of items that should be placed in a safe. These include, above all, cash and things that are easy to cash for a potential thief. This makes them attractive loot. The risk of burglary concerns not only the most magnificent residences, but also the majority of flats. The number of burglaries still remains very high in Poland. In 2016, over 77,000 such crimes were recorded[1].

However, a safe serves not only as protection against thieves, but also as protection against potential damage. In a safe, it is therefore particularly worth protecting data carriers, photos and family heirlooms, expensive jewellery, watches, collectible rarities, as well as weapons. A properly selected model, adjusted to the possibilities of the premises, can be a solid protection. Both against theft and against fire or flooding.

Types of safes for private use

When choosing a safe for your own needs, it is worth paying attention to several important parameters. The class of a safe is important and should correspond to the value of the contents stored in it. You should know that the most resistant safes – for storing money, weapons, documents and valuables – will not be able to be opened by a thief during a quick burglary. They will also not be able to take the container with them, as such safes are permanently fixed to the floor and are very heavy. In flats and offices, free-standing, cabinet and furniture models are particularly recommended. They can be successfully installed and hidden in furniture.

On the other hand, wall and floor safes are also designed for single-family houses. In addition, those mounted in the floor are easy to mask effectively, making them invisible to outsiders. Importantly, many safes combine burglary and heat resistance. Thanks to this, the deposited contents will not suffer even during a fire and its extinguishing.

Choose a safe tailored to your needs

To choose a safe that works best for your home, it's worth considering your needs, as this container will be used to store valuable items not only today, but also in the future. For this reason, it is necessary to take into account the method of installation, class, type of locks, dimensions, weight and equipment. When choosing a safe for your home, you should also not overlook the issue of certificates awarded by reputable entities, which are a confirmation of the effectiveness of selected security measures.
