It is well known that the purchase of a gun safe is a must for anyone who wants to store a gun at home. Regardless of whether it will be used for sport, personal defence or hunting purposes. The law in Poland imposes such a requirement, so you must have a suitable gun safe.If you are looking for the cheapest solution to secure your weapons and ammunition, think carefully. Remember that budget safes are not always a good choice, despite the fact that they meet the legislature's requirements. Check out how to choose a gun cabinet and what to look out for before you buy.

Hunting gun safe

Above all, a hunting gun safe should be spacious and comfortable to use. It must have a separate shelf for ammunition, gun cleaning utensils and documents such as:

● the weapon permit,
● certificates of purchase of the weapon,
● certificates of receipt of weapons for deposit,
● Weapons and Ammunition Act,
● the Regulation on the Storage of Weapons.

Remember that you will periodically be subject to a weapons storage inspection. The inspection is carried out by police officers. If you are a soldier, the inspection is carried out by the gendarmerie. Buy a gun cabinet in which you can easily keep order.

A long gun safe does not have to be used only for storing weapons and ammunition. If you buy a larger and more practical cabinet, you can keep binoculars, night vision, thermal imaging and weapon sights, among other things, in there. Optics for weapons can cost up to several tens of thousands of zlotys, so it is worth protecting them well. Protect your equipment not only from children, but also from people who are not familiar with handling optics and could damage expensive accessories.

Handgun cabinet for personal protection

A handgun cabinet is needed for storing guns. It is much smaller than long gun safes and can be easily concealed.

Pistols are much more dangerous than carbines and rifles, because they are characterised by the fact that it is very easy to change the direction of aim. Small arms handled by inexperienced people can go off accidentally. It is a good idea to buy a solid safe with decent safety features, so that the weapons do not fall into the wrong hands, even accidentally.

Aesthetic display case for collectible models

Do you have a permit for a collector's gun? Do you already have a few specimens that are impressive? You would probably like to show them off to friends and family. Constantly pulling your collection out of the gun safe is cumbersome and dangerous. And even if you do decide to do so, you still have to hide and secure it. The ideal solution to your problems is an aesthetic and tasteful display case for collectible models.

Such a showcase for weapons can be displayed and placed in your living room. The armoured display case is equipped with several layers of armoured glass, which cannot be broken even by hard knocks of a hammer. Your collection can also be illuminated by means of the integrated lighting.

You can purchase the cabinet in black ebony wood, light pine or dark oak, so you can adapt the cabinet to the colour scheme of your other furniture. The interior of the safe for collectible weapons is made of cloth in green or red. The whole looks grand and dignified.

You do not have to be a collector to buy such a display case. All models of hunting weapons look very good in the display case. You can keep there both modern models of rifles with advanced optics, as well as classic shotguns. Pistols and revolvers also look beautiful in the display case.

Universal safe for long and short guns

If you have both long and short pieces in your arsenal, it is worth considering the purchase of a large universal gun cabinet. Special shelves will allow for safe and stable keeping of the weapon. Additional internal hiding places enable separation of the weapon from the ammunition. All this to ensure the maximum level of safety.

Armoured gun safes are designed to be anchored in the wall. If you wish, you can choose a built-in model and place the safe in the cabinet so that it is not visible and blends in well with other furniture.

All gun safes are made in accordance with the current legislation, the Weapons and Ammunition Act and the Ordinance on the Storage of Weapons. The safes have safety class S1, which means that the largest models can store up to 50 weapons.

Practical advice before buying a gun safe

Before you buy a gun safe, consider what size will work for you. Remember that over time you will want to buy several units of weapons, so buy a cabinet with a stock of posts. Plan where you're going to put the safe and measure whether the safe will definitely fit. It's a good idea to order a model with extra shelves and drawers so you can store extra gun accessories and documents and won't have problems during inspections.

The last issue is the choice of lock. You can order a gun cabinet equipped with:

● a traditional mechanical knob,
● a fingerprint reader,
● an electronic code,
● a key lock.

Before you decide, find out how to open different locks.

Regardless of which model of gun safe you choose, you must always keep safety in mind. The Criminal Code provides for heavy penalties for improperly storing and carrying weapons. The mere fact of losing arms is an offence punishable by a fine, restriction of freedom or imprisonment for up to one year (Article 263 § 4 of the Penal Code).
