The art market in Poland has been growing steadily in recent years and there is no shortage of collectors who have valuable pieces and rarities in their collections. In the first half of 2017 alone, the turnover on the auction market amounted to as much as PLN 86.3 billion and over 6.7 thousand objects were auctioned[1]. It is difficult to estimate the total value of works that are in private hands, but many of them are priceless. How to properly display them at home and at the same time avoid the risk of theft? Robust safe rooms as well as cupboards and safes with armoured glass solve this problem.
How do I store valuable items and collections?
Acquiring valuable and unique works of art often requires a long search, effort and, of course, large sums of money. Storing valuable, collectible objects should therefore be very well thought out. In order to avoid risks in the form of potential theft or damage, which may be caused, for example, by high temperatures or moisture. Such risks can be quickly and easily eliminated with the help of a robust burglary safe or fire-resistant safe. Collectors with larger collections may be tempted to build a safe room (vault). In the case of smaller exhibits, in order to simultaneously protect and present the exhibits in the right light, it is worth investing in a special cabinet or a safe with armoured glass.
Beautiful design and security
Safes with armoured glass are a prestigious alternative to the usual metal safe. They are distinguished by walls of special glass, for example on the door or – depending on the model – also on the sides. The interiors of these safes are illuminated, providing a wonderful setting for collectibles and at the same time offering excellent protection against theft. Safes and cabinets with armoured glass comply with the stringent European standards (depending on the model EN 1143-1 or EN 14450). However, before making a purchase it is always advisable to seek advice from a professional advisor, who will select appropriate protection in relation to the value of the collection stored. Safes and vaults from reputable suppliers meet the most restrictive standards, which means that they can be used not only in private homes, but also in museums, exhibition halls and institutions where the safe presentation of valuable objects is required. It is not uncommon for particularly valuable collections to be deposited in museums. It is important to bear in mind that passive protection such as safes, saferooms and armoured glass cases should only be one element of a wider security system: other passive and active forms of protection, such as an alarm system or insurance, should also be borne in mind.
Safes with armoured glass not only for exhibits
Importantly, even for such an exclusive safe, you can choose from many models and designs. For safes and cabinets with armoured glass can be finished in wood, as well as matt lacquer in black or white. There are also different types of interior lining and shelves, which should be matched to the contents stored for a better effect. These safes can accommodate not only valuable collectibles and works of art, but also weapons. An armoured glass cabinet for weapons allows them to be properly displayed and protects against unauthorised access, as well as complies with current legal standards for storing firearms.
When the collection needs more space
In the case of collections which include many items, it is worth considering investing in a safe room equipped with an armoured door. It is an alternative for collectors, who have numerous collections, and for weapon owners, who need more space to store their weapons. An additional advantage of such a solution is the possibility of connecting the walls of the vault and the armoured door to the alarm system. The safe room is usually located in a less frequently used part of the house. However, in the case of a display cabinet or a safe with armoured glass, it is enough to place it in the office or in any place where we want to expose the collection.
