Why a safe in a smart home?

A house equipped with building automation can protect the inhabitants in many ways. It is possible to integrate the system with an alarm, monitoring installation or a safe. All these safeguards allow you to more effectively defend against unwanted intruders or theft, and thus property losses.

A comfortable and safe smart home

A house equipped with a building automation system is associated with great comfort of living. Remote control, as well as automation of many functions, such as heating, lighting or opening and closing windows, make living extremely comfortable. Other advantages of smart homes include their low energy consumption. Such properties efficiently control heating, e.g. they automatically lower the temperature at night and when the occupants are absent. They can raise the roller blinds to let in sunlight during the day. It is worth knowing, however, that one of the greatest advantages of systems such as KNX is the much greater safety of residents and property.

A home automation system will turn your home into a fortress

It is possible to integrate the system with the alarm system, safe and monitoring. An example of the possible functions is arming the alarm after leaving the house with a single button on the mobile application. In addition, the system informs the householder on the control panel as well as on the mobile device if windows or balcony doors are not closed. The view from the cameras around the house or the video intercom can also be viewed remotely. Another interesting solution is the simulation of the household members' presence during their absence, which can effectively deter thieves. The system turns the lights on and off at specific times, opens and closes the windows and starts up the TV, for example. This makes the house look from the outside as if the occupants are still in it.

There are also many possibilities to use in case, when an intruder comes to the building. An intelligent house like a fortress can be equipped with many safeguards. Even such a well guarded property can be broken into by a skilled criminal.

A safe in the smart home

To thoroughly protect your possessions – including cash and valuable items such as jewellery, watches, works of art or antiques – it is best to store them in a safe that will be integrated with an alarm. A robust container will protect the valuable contents both when there are outsiders in the house, e.g. to carry out renovations, cleaning or repairs, and when a burglar is on the premises. If there is even an attempt to open the safe by unauthorised persons, the container will automatically sound an alarm and notify the relevant services of the intrusion. At the same time, the building automation system can react by closing the doors and shutters so that the thief cannot escape from the property and will switch on the lighting around the house. In addition, it is possible to use the so-called silent alarm function in case of a robbery. If the householder, under the influence of an attacker, will be forced to enter the PIN code in the safe, he can choose this variant, which will actually open the safe, but at the same time without activating the alarm siren will notify the police about the attack.

It is worth knowing that a properly configured installation and equipment in the form of a high-end certified safe can minimise the risk of burglary and potential property loss.
